Wabbit Season

Warning: the following Blog may contain amusingly harmless graphic images - no bunny wabbits were hurt in the production of this Blog.

Hunting season opened this week in Michigan. To celebrate the long tradition of carnivorous behavior among the species, Catherine the Great Hunter and her trusty scout, Scout, headed out to the wilds.

Nice Weekend

Tom, Jen, Elizabeth and Adam came in for (sister) Catherine's birthday and we all got together for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. It was a fun weekend.

Elizabeth is always a big help with Catherine.
These look like some pretty strong negoti-ations.
Thankfully I was done with this magazine.

Moving along...

It was a busy week: we're continuing to make progress in the kitchen, but we don't seem to be as quick as we used to be (I wonder why that is); Scout had a cyst removed from her eye lid by a vet ophthalmologist (who knew there was such a thing); we went to a baby shower yesterday (where Catherine is always a hit) and then just the normal day-to-day stuff. The outfit below is from my parents, but we knew Jim's parents would enjoy seeing Catherine in the little sailor outfit.

Updating the Kitchen

Lest everyone just think that we sit around all day waiting to take cute pictures of Catherine, this was this weekend's project.

The paint is Jim's inter- pretation of what we were thinking.

After much tile cutting (each of those little squares in the backsplash is its own piece) we're very happy with the result.

But what would the weekend be without a couple pictures.

Sitting

Now that Catherine has learned to sit (after we get her in the position), she seldom wants to do anything else. But, at least she's a pretty good sport about it when she falls. -- Must be all those "soft spots" on her head. :-) (Alissa, this is the outfit you got her too)

Hummm, we put down a blanket so Catherine doesn't get too much dog hair. There were toys on both sides of the blanket and Scout wedged herself in the middle.

Last cute picture for this week.

FOOD!

Oh boy. After putting off the inevitable we decided to try Catherine with cereal. She seemed to love it. Of course we were there to capture the moment.

4 Months Old!!!

Catherine is four months old today. While four months doesn't seem like a long time, it is amazing what she is able to do... roll over from her back to her tummy and from her tummy to her back (on one side). This week also marked the first time that we found her in the morning sleeping on her tummy. Since that first instance we've now found her that way about every time. She had her four-month doctor appoitment on Friday and weighed 16 pds (exactly) and was 25.5 inches. For those who like numbers, that puts her in the 95% for height and weight. Below are some of our latest favorite pictures -- and let me thank God for a digital camera, I cannot imagine how much all of our pictures would cost to develop!

Cute, eh?

Smiles!

"A horse! A horse! My kingdom for (this) horse"

Jingles unexpectedly passed away on Friday night. True to his personality he broke free of from the herd (to protect them from predators) walked to the barn, turned east and died. Unfortunately, we were away for the weekend and I am sorry I did not get to say good bye. I honestly thought that little Catherine would learn to walk and trot on him, but I am thankful that he did not suffer. It has been a difficult couple days. He was an honest and kind soul. So cheers to my little buddy - he will be missed.

Poor Pippi

Day 1: Catherine seems to really love Pippi

Day 2: In her eagerness to get Pippi today, Catherine rolled over. (Ah, don't we all need incentives to learn new "tricks")

She seems a bit perplexed about what just happened.

Fourth of July

Catherine had a great time with all her cousins.

Allison was a big help too.

These two seem to be getting a bit tired.

What a Party!

Wow, what a fun weekend! Here are some pictures (and comments):

They're good sports.

John's thought: "If only they all weren't my cousins; thank God for the waitstaff"

What??? Does Uncle Al have something to say?

All we can say is that you invited us!

I couldn't help but post this one. What a nice picture of the two of them (because we all know how they look in a "normal" picture. :-)

The next day Patti had the great idea of taking a picture with all the next-generation-cousins at the cottage, here's as far as we got waiting for them to "corral".

Catherine enjoying the sound of Uncle Dan's voice.

Well, maybe not. :-)

Relaxing: Then and Now

Catherine seems to like the sound of my voice as much as me!

The good news is that Jingles is finally in MI and is working out well as a therapeutic horse for disabled children. The bad news is that he seems a little thin, and since he has never been one to fight for his food, we'll see if this works out. It sure is nice to have him around again.
